  • This type measures 14 line in size and was produced with the end-cut method. The type block is stamped American Wood Type Co, it is as yet unclear who used this stamp or when it was in use.
  • This face was first shown as wood type by William H. Page in his 1882 Specimens of Wood Type and Borders.
  • Streamer No 36 was not shown in American Wood Type, but this cut was shown in the folio on page 15.

This cut is the Tubbs cut.

The positive version of this face was first shown as wood type by William H. Page in his July, 1879 Page’s Wood Type Album and was named No 121. The patent application was filed by Page June 16, 1880 and was patented Nov 9, 1880 (Design No 12, 020).

Other manufacturers offered the positive version as well: Hamilton No 167, Morgans & Wilcox Keystone [3208], Page No 121 [4167] and Heber Wells Mansard [5205].
