  • This type measures 15 line in size and was produced with the end-cut method. The type block is stamped The Hamilton Mfg. Co, Chicago & Two Rivers which was used by Hamilton between 1889–1891.
  • This face was first shown as wood type by Darius Wells and E.R. Webb in L. Johnson’s 1846 Specimen of Wood Letter.
  • This cut of Grecian Condensed was shown in American Wood Type on page 272 and in the folio on page 29.

Wells & Webb’s design is titled Grecian in L. Johnson’s 1846 Specimen of Wood Letter.

The design is more appropriately re-titled Grecian Condensed in Darius Wells and E.R. Webb’s 1849 Specimen of Wood Type.

Cooley showed Grecian Condensed both with (16 line sample) and without (20 line sample) serif on the crossbar in his c.1859 Specimens of Wood Type.
